Schuyler, Tony, & List,

Looking at old mail to get rid of, I came across this correspondence which was written more than a year ago. What caught my eye was mention of shirts and collars, the collar being separate from the shirt. Attached is a document that has some relevance to this.

This came from the freight house in Denville many years ago and it deals with the cleaning of collars and cuffs. It is interesting even if only for the pricing of the service. My late cousin lived directly across from the Denville Station and rescued this and more.

Well, I fit the age bracket that you noted. My father commuted to NYC to work on the Erie, first from Ridgewood and, after a move, from Hohokus (or should it be Ho-ho-kus?). Suit and tie, etc., but I do not remember the suits being that "baggy." Ties, of course, seemed to change with the decade. For me, by high school, it was those "skinny" ties. Always dressed for church and other major family occasions. Couldn't wear jeans to school. Remember the old corduroy pants when they could hear yo coming from a mile away? Yes, things have changed but I love the trains from the fifties and sixties!
