"CroxtonAreaMap73.jpg" - image/jpeg, 1000x1526 (24bit)

I hope that everyone who reads the Diamond enjoyed Dick Wenzel's "Third
Track" article in the recent issue. I helped out a little bit with it.Â
The article has a series of maps that are taken from the 1918 ICC
Valuation map for Croxton Yard and vicinity, one with handwritten notes
and drawn line overlays showing approximate track arrangements in 1973.Â
I had suggested a higher-altitude overview map, as to relate Croxton to
the various EL lines interacting with it each day (plus NYS&W and PC
interchanges). Thus I developed a rough, rudimentary map that wasn't
quite ready for prime time, but possibly could have been improved and
developed for publication purposes. Unfortunately, such a map did not
make the cut due to publication deadline constraints (my bad, I should
have provided it earlier). Nevertheless, I am including it here, just in
case it might be of help to anyone reading the article who is not
completely familiar with the complex routes by which EL trains got into
and out of Croxton. FYI,

Jim Gerofsky
