I saw Number 11 on a few occasions and took a shot of the last run which I have attached. It’s a Brownie shot taken in fading light, but here it is. I think this is December 1959. I seem to remember a single E-8 for power but that could well be wrong. The location is the James Park footbridge in Madison. Dan On 5/25/23, 1:04 PM, "Paul Tupaczewski" wrote:

That date confusion perplexed me, too!

Here's one thing I noticed - am I misreading the caption?

It states "On Oct. 1, 1949, DL&W F3 No. 801 stands ready to speed..."
Clearly the clock tower is in the background.

But the next paragraph reads "...as the clock tower in the distance was
dismantled in 1942 to reclaim the copper for the war effort."

SO! Is this image Photoshopped? How can a clock tower that was "dismantled
in 1942" appear in a photo dates 10/1/49????
