There was a thread awhile back about when Conrail last used the
Cutoff, I did some searching and this was the last through freight that
I photographed on the Boonton Line. Here's eastbound TV98 August 4, 1978
at Great Notch NJ (Little Falls Twp.) approaching and crossing Francisco
Ave. according to my notes it's 3:45 pm and TV98 has 72 cars. The train
is just starting the up the steepest part of the grade having just
crossed over the Cedar Grove trestle. With at least four units working
hard, check out the exhaust and sanders wide open!
From this date on all my photos are of the Port Morris Turn's making
the daily daylight run on the line.
