Subject: I found this photo and I'm thinking that it is on the X-DL&W Buffalo division at Groveland, NY MP 326

Bill Burt just confirmed dates of the demise of X-Lackawanna's Buffalo
Division, through my hometown Dansville, see below. So guessing that this
photo is taken in the fall of 1961 before the freights moved over to the
Erie side and the shot is from the Dutch door of the westbound L-3 or #31
the Phoebe Snow; the power switch is to the Groveland Wye and the F3 or 7 is
a helper engine for Dansville Hill.

ANY OTHERS HAVE A GUESS??

Through freights were shifted to the Erie side December 13, 1961.

Union issues did not precipitate the move.

March 31, 1962, trains L-2 and L-5 were cut back to Elmira.

April 29, 1962, trains 35 and 36 rerouted to ex-Erie, connecting with Lake
Cities at Hornell.

July 1, 1962, trains 10 and 15 and 31 and 32 rerouted to ex-Erie.

EB-1 and BE-2 continued to operate mid-February 1963 when replaced by Gang
Mills-Wayland and Buffalo-Groveland turns.

Wayland-Groveland and Ray-East Lancaster torn up in late 1963.
