All

Attached is a photo of a diorama of the Thornberger Loaders used on
the Buffalo waterfront, circa-1900;
built in HO scale by Earl Girbovan and given five awards including
'Best in Show' at last week's Pacific Coast Region NMRA Convention.

The reference Library of Congress photo is provided for comparison.

Each loader is individually controlled by an Arduino
micro-controller; the buckets move prototypically between the coal
barge and the gondolas,
and the counterweights on the back of the towers move up and down in sync.

A room scent diffuser provides the 'smoke' from the stack in the boilerhouse.

The eight DL&W gons shown in the LoC photo are each different, and
individually modeled and lettered... (six present on the diorama).

Congratulations to Earl for an amazing interpretation of a very
modelogenic scene!!!
