Subject: DL&W Offset side hoppers in HO

New news for HO modelers is the release of conversion kits from Resin Car Works to turn the very common USRA two-pocket coal hopper into these very usual offset side hoppers with the Enterprise taper. New York Central and family roads were the first to get this design, and Lackawanna followed with an order for a couple of groups totaling 500 cars in 1934: 83300-83649 from AC&F and 83650-83799 from Magor. Resin Car Works more than a decade ago offered an "IC Chiseled Side" hopper kit of this design with a one-piece body, but they're hard to find and aren't often re-released. Either way, these are so very close to the DL&W cars and will make any coal train look more authentic. Frank Hodina did a masterful job on the patterns. Attached is a builder's photo of one of the cars built by Magor Car Company.
