Here is the handout from the June 7, 1959 fantrip to Branchville.

Also attached is a shot from the stop at Straders. The trip handout has the perfunctory safety instruction to not get off the train but this photo shows the railfans, including me, getting their shots.

All that happened at Straders was for them to do the normal switching, but with extra caution I suppose because of the railfans out to capture the scene. It was the regular Sunday schedule with a two hour layover so the only photo opportunities for the riders were at Straders and Branchville.

I just paid a visit to my garage and found the handout from that trip and will scan it later and send to the list. It is just a one-pager listing stations and times.

The trip was run by the Railroad Enthusiasts - New York Division and it ran June 7, 1959.

If my memory serves, Bill Hopping ran a trip the following weekend for the Boy Scouts.

Hard to believe this was almost 62 years ago. I was 17 and about to graduate from HS in Brooklyn. Sussex County might just as well been on the moon for all I knew. I of course knew that my trip flyer would be of interest decades later and the web would be around to allow me to easily share it.

Dan,

That is the one... did they actually hold the train for the photo at Straders?

Was that the Bill Hopping-organized trip?
