Subject: FW: EL Sand trains (photos)
"photo1.jpg" - image/jpeg, 145940 bytes, 890x595 (24bit)

Thanks to John Boehner for scanning and sending along these great images of the "Greenwood Lake Sand Train" taken in 1965. I'll let John's words caption these two photos...

"Photo 2. EL Engineer Jim Territolo looks down from F-3 6621 and a B unit in
the pass with a sand train at Little Falls in Summer 1965. My good friends
Don Hein and Gary Hayde are standing by the track on the left. (I keep in
touch with Don today) Note the new block signal put in service after the
Boonton Line was abandoned through Paterson.

Jim hired out with the Erie, entering service as a New York Division Fireman
on 9/2/26. He was promoted to Engineer 12/9/45.

Photo 1. Close up of Jim in the cab. On one such run, the DS held them for
quite some time. As I recall, it was a nice hot, muggy, New Jersey day. I ran
home and had my Mom make sandwiches for the crew! They certainly appreciated
Roast Beef sandwiches and cold ice tea!

Those days growing up in LF with the EL were great. I will never forget how
great all the EL employees were, and the impact they made on my life. Thank
God I was able to be a part of that.

John"
