It's been a fun few days with the Lackawanna heritage unit. Here some images for those who haven't been here to see it in person. Lackawanna 1074 and caboose 896 arrived in Boonton yesterday afternoon. The process will be reversed on Monday -- the caboose will be dropped at Denville for the M&E to pick up when it goes west in the morning, and the 1074 will go west with H-02 to Washington, facing east so it'll be a trailing unit.

As with any projects, there are many to thank at NS, NJTransit, Morristown & Erie, the Tri-State Chapter NRHS, URHS and especially the H-02 crew of John Sobotka and D.J. Brightly. I'll admit that the railfans were responsible and very well behaved -- no one stepped out of bounds on railroad property and all were respectful of the crews along the way. And it's been fun to see how today's railroaders have been so enthusiastic about seeing the Heritage unit and caboose out and about.

The flash lighting on the night shot was provided by ARHS-member John Gabriel at the request of Bob Bahrs. The Big Dipper was provided by God.

Right now it's back out to see the other two Tri-State cabooses L&NE 580 and RRRR 10 trailing an M&E freight over Lackawanna tracks en route to make their appearance in Rockaway on Sunday. Free trips beginning at 1:00 p.m. 'till the crowd thins starting at Pot Belly's on Main Street. We'll spend all day back and forth over "The Station Agent" bridge over the Rockaway River. M&E 18 is the power.

                    ....Mike
