Interesting article about J.J. Bernet.  I was surprised to hear about the
trip he made to California to recruit perishable business.  I'm assuming he
went west in an Erie Office Car, possibly No. 1 of that era on the end of
an AT&SF train.  It must have been odd to see an Erie passenger car way out
on the west coast back then.  But that's the way railroad business was done
back then.
