Yes you are. A lot of the traffic was pig iron in gons going to the New Haven according to the trainmen.

The B&P interchanged with the L&NE at three locations up to about 
1949, when the Bangor interchange went away, leaving Portland and Bath.  So 
yes, there was a fair amount depending on the season, at Portland.  I would 
imagine most of the Portland interchange was for north bound traffic. My guess 
would be anywhere from 6 to 20 cars a day, 6 days a week.  I'll let are 
B&P expert Bob Stafford talk about this a little more. Am I close
