(erielack) DL&W bridge causing accidents

Is this a former bridge to the Lackawanna Railroad freight yard that once exsited?

Jersey City, NJ - Despite a clearance warning written in bright yellow paint on the adjacent NJ Transit Light Rail bridge, trucks are routinely getting stuck under the old Lackawanna Railroad trestle at Marin Boulevard and 18th Street in Jersey City.
That's what happened last Tuesday morning when a truck got lodged under the bridge around 7 a.m. and wasn't removed until early afternoon when a tow truck finally pulled it away.

The trucks appear to be trying to get from the Holland Tunnel, which hasn't allowed large commercial trucks since the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, to the Lincoln Tunnel via Marin Boulevard.
Dan Stessel, a spokesman for NJ Transit, which owns the abandoned Lackawanna bridge, said accidents happen a few times a year.
This month there have been two. The other accident was Dec. 6.
Stessel said the NJ Transit Light Rail bridge, which is just to the south of Lackawanna bridge on Marin Boulevard, has a slightly higher clearance than the Lackawanna bridge. But the Light Rail bridge warns in bright yellow lettering that the clearance underneath is only 12-feet 3-inches, even though the clearance is several feet more.
"What appears to be happening is truck drivers approach the bridge and either think that the clearance is wrong or think they can make it not realizing that clearance is for the second bridge," he said.
He said in the last five years a truck has never hit the NJ Transit bridge or affected Light Rail operations there.
