Re: (erielack) Re:REA Traffic

Put the valve on the D-22 in direct release. What's the problem? Lackawanna Lance

The braking systems were/are different between passenger and freight cars. How
id the railroads handle that difference when running TOFC on passenger trains?
And -- would that difference have constrained the top speed allowable for
iggyback?

This is another valuable piece of the intermodal puzzle. Vol 1 of EL in Color
as an undated photo of #3, formerly #7, the Pacific Express, according to
arry. It has a single NADX flat with four 20' stricktainers as COFC. .
Interesting also is the mention of NYC Flexivan competition. I don't recall
eeing Flexi's on Central's passenger trains, although they certainly were
andled this way on some other RR's, including IC. I know MILW (Union Sta) was
andling Flexi's in 1961, so interchange with the Central (LaSalle St) was via
ighway. Another LaSalle St user, The Rock, never handled Flexi's, and I
elieve it was mid- to late-60's before ATSF and the Q got into into it for M&E
raffic. . .
