Re: (erielack) Route of the "Cleveland Lake Cities"(2)
To provide some further clarification to Rick's remarks, the line is
currently owned by NS, but has been leased for operation by Cleveland
Commerical (which also operates some of the W&LE trackage in the Clevland
area) for the last couple of years, and is intact from just north of E.55th
St. to the Stouffer's facility, just north of Harper Road in Solon.
Track is in place south of here, but most/all of the grade crossings have
been removed/paved over down to end of track in Aurora...
NS agreed to allow grade crossing protection equipment to be removed with
the understanding that if rail service returned, a new grade seperation
structure (ast least for Harper Road/Solon) would be built...
