RE: (erielack) "Hot" Action Coming Back to the EL- Short Term
Unfortunately Ravena is south of Albany on the West Shore - River Line. Amtrak trains operate on the east side of the Hudson at that location, so no Amtrak detours. I would expect less freight interference, especially east of Syracuse.
Back in the mid 1990s, one of the Lake Shore Limiteds detoured between Schnectedy and Buffalo via D&H and the Southern Tier. Can't remember which direction the detour was, except that I missed it by a day. A friend of mine at the time was on it. He said the trip was long - something like 12 hours if memory serves me right.
