Re:(erielack) RE: EL Power Pool Question(s)

Oh, boy! "Extra 312 East meet Extra 312 West at . . ."

What if they had to change engines? Would that require new orders?

Suppose the two trains were going in the same direction?

Hmmm. . .

It's true, if you take the post Erie Lackawanna years almost anything or any railroad was possible! Randy Brown's question is much more EL related when he said "Has anyone ever captured two or more locomotives from different railroads but with the same number in a consist?

The example I bring up is the fact Delaware & Hudson (DERECO) had to renumber all of it's U23B's to avoid a conflict that could or may have occurred, the D&H U-boats were Class GRF-23 and they were originally numbered 301-316 in the early 1970's (The 312 later became bi-centennial 1776). My guess they changed them to 2301-2316 to avoid a mishap with the new Lehigh Valley GP-38's being delivered at the time (310-325), but prior to that there was a very good chance a low numbered D&H U23B could very well cross paths with LV GP-9 301, of GP-18 302 to 305! A tricky train order indeed!!

Is this list content... YES! The D&H U23B's were common visitors to the Bloomsburg Branch running from Plymouth Jct. to Bloomsburg according to the Scranton dispatcher records I have from the 1970's! (Take that list coppers!)
