Re: (erielack) F5s or are they....
Erie 709 (ABBA) and 710 (ABBA) were noted as the "F-5s" which externally, except for the dynamic brake roof screens, looked like the following F-7s (grilles and angled number boards). The roof dynamic brake screens were of the F-3 variety.
Erie 714 (ABBA), the ex-NYO&W unit, was an F-3 but had low roof fans and the angled number boards. I had heard that the Erie had obtained this unit in lieu of storage fees for all the O&W diesels stored for so long at Croxton.

Was alleged F5 the Erie 709, etc? How many where there? 714 stared another group of F3's from O&W

Remember seeing them in Croxton without d/b's, But later found out they did have the feature and were F3's?

F5's has the horizontal stainless steel grilles, unlike the rest of the F3s.
Never any "F4", "F6" or "F8" diesels....
