Re: (erielack) F5s or are they....

Erie also bough from then defiant O&W four of their seven Phase 4 F3''s 821AB and 822AB which became Erie's 714ABCD and last as EL 7141, 7142, 7143 and 7144

The other three 501-503 went t0 Sacramento Northern (WP) 301-302 and 801D to WP and usually used on the CZ as the lead unit since it was passenger geared and had no steam boiler.

While as railfans you may call them F5s or F3 Phase 4 EMC later EMD did not even refer to Phases they were Just F3s... but the Major Point is that the DL&W didnt ever have what you would call F5s. they were F3 Phase1 early (801a-802c) 8411-8424 I believe, and the rest were PHase 2 late (low fans and chickenwire grills between portholes on A units. 803a805c or 8431-8454 under EL these are just the Dual service F3s im not going into EX Lackawanna Freight F3s other than to say they were also Phase1-2 and No F5s those were ERIE owned and Freight only
