While not exactly EL/Erie/DL&W related, this is subject related - Turns out this was not the only incidence in New Jersey where station names were a problem when calling "trains for...." I don't remember where I read this, but on the CNJ, trains to Asbury (located in Bethlehem Twp., Hunterdon Cty.) and trains to Asbury Park (located in Monmouth Cty.) were known to have caused some confusion at the Jersey City Terminal, that the Asbury in Hunterdon was later changed to Ludlow-Asbury, though I believe locals still call it Asbury.
