Interestingly, the current RAILPACE shows a fantrip on the Staten Island Railroad which used an S-1 and an S-2 to pull a couple of SIRT cars. The Alcos ran nose to tail, but the pictures didn't show whether both were crewed; the implication is that they were MU'd but not cab to cab as I suggested the Erie and Lackawanna units might have been set up. And then there is the question of as-built vs. as modified . . . Also, for the record, a builders photo I have of 482 confirms MU receptacles on both ends of the unit.
