(erielack) New Connection To EL In Warren, OH.

List,

The Youngstown Vindicator just reported that there will be a new connection
to the old EL Mah. Div. 2nd District main line at Warren.

This is at a location formerly known as BO, where the EL was crossed at
grade by the B&O Lake Branch. The Lake Branch has been abandoned for years south
of this crossing. The line was kept intact to the north as far as Copperweld
Steel.

There was a connection at the northwest quadrant off of the EL to the former
B&O to switch the steel mill. The curve on to the B&O was very tight and
only 2 mph. was allowed over the connection according to the Vindy.

A new connection on a former track, long abandoned in the northeast quadrant
is being rebuilt. This will allow 10 mph. through the connection. This is
where the track used to curve around the former Halsey-Taylor building.
Halsey-Taylor was a maker of drinking fountains.

Copperweld had been closed for several years and was finally bought by a
company from the Ukraine. They re-started the melt shop portion of the mill and
will be shipping alloy steel bars by rail.

Formerly, operations over the line were by Ohio Central's Warren & Trumbull
RR. The new operator will most likely be Genesee & Wyoming.
