NJ Railroad Museum - Heritage Center OPEN HOUSE - Sat., Oct. 11 - Boonton NJ - FREE Almost 70 historic NJ locomotives (diesel and electric), passenger cars, freight cars, and work cars will be open to the public on Sat., Oct. 11 at the former DL&W rail yard in Boonton. Directions: I-287 to Main St., Boonton. Cross over the hump-back bridge over NJT's Boonton Line (half block west of the beautiful 1905 Boonton passenger station) and turn left onto Morris Ave. (just over the bridge). A few hundred feet on Morris Ave is the 1909 concrete DL&W freight house on the left. You are there! Park across the street. The museum rail yard and restoration facility entrance is at the far end of the freight house. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME EVER it has been open to the public! Very likely to have free track car rides too! Don't miss it. GG-1s, E-8's, GE center cabs, and loads of equipment. Coffee and donuts available on site and numerous eating places on Main St. in historic downtown Boonton.
