List members...and especially any of the railroaders on the list... How exactly did the crew of a way freight (drill, turn, haul, roustabout, whatever...) know what they were supposed to do for the day? I mean, it is obvious that they would get a list of freight cars that were supposed to be delivered to certain customers, but what about empties or loads that had to be picked up? Did the conductor get a listing of what they had to pick up and from where? Were all these tasks organized into one big list in order of station along the line, or were there separate lists for set outs and pick ups?
