Re: The MC Terminal Building in Detroit.
The building was constructed about 1913---its location has never been
good--well away from the central business district. The location now is bad, to
be kind.
The top 6 or 8 out of 13 or so floors were Never used. (capitalization on
purpose)--they are big ,open spaces. I was in the building numerous times in the
late 70's -early '80's--Amtrak was still there, plus CR offices. It was a
dump then, and way worse now, and basically has no use. If someone has need for
city office space, there is plenty downtown, where whatever business that is
left in Detroit is located.
What is amazing about Detroit is than when you get out on the highways there
is a huge amount of traffic--I think I may have heard that the local
government subsidizes people to get out and drive several hours a day to make it
look like the place is busy.
Always like these "...you ought to (save, rebuild, preserve,etc)..." ideas!
