Jim -- If you'll go to the "milktrains" group on Yahoo, you'll find more milk train info than you can absorb at one sitting, including extensive and lengthy bibliography of milk train equipment and operations.  It's well worth jpining if you have that interest.

Milk has an interesting history. . . .
Obviously there's much more to this interesting story, and no one has really  taken the step back to look at the history of milk transportation in detail  (at least not that I know of).
