(erielack) Re: New York Harbor Terminals map (2)

Again, running the risk of being off topic, let me first say to anyone who is interested in their own vintage copy of a 1952 NY Harbor terminal facilities map, one is for sale right now on eBay, item # 260274398662...........And since somebody will ask, no I don't know who's selling it, it sure ain't me!
Now, to answer the question of the last year of the B&O's operation at West 26th St. Manhattan, it was 1976, when the B&O turned over remaining harbor operations to the BEDT, as per Herb Harwood's Royal Blue Line book, page 173.
Here are two interesting links regarding the operation - http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=950DE5DE113BF933A25751C1A96F948260
and
http://www.oldnyc.com/w26st_yards/w26st_yards/w26st_yards_1.html
The aforementioned RMIG Transfer issue featuring the operation was Transfer No. 27   (May‑August, 1999).
And to remain inside that ever elusive EL content envelope, the restored B&O float bridge located here at W.26th St is right next to a DL&W carfloat, with an Erie caboose (lettered Lackawanna, no less!) sitting on it. It's worth a visit, just to get to go inside the carfloat and use the bathroom!

I don't have all the years, but the Port Authority updated them every few
years. These maps are among my favorites for studying the rail lines around
New York harbor. If you have an interest in getting one, keep an eye on
ebay as they turn up every so often.
