LEASE OF HISTORIC UNUSED FORMER WALDWICK RAILROAD STATION, BERGEN COUNTY

NJ TRANSIT owns a historic station building in Waldwick Township which was
erected in 1887 along the westbound track of the Main Line. The building
was closed in June, 1983 when it was replaced with a larger, well-outfitted
shelter in a better location. The station building has fallen into
disrepair in the 25 years that it has been closed. The building has been
stabilized to prevent any additional deterioration, but there are no funds
for its restoration or preservation.

In order to gain relief from the operating budget needs to insure, secure
and maintain the building and surrounding property, NJ TRANSIT proposes to
lease the building to the Waldwick Community Alliance, Inc. at a cost of $1
per year for 25 years. The Waldwick Community Alliance is a non-profit
corporation which will improve and restore the building and will use the
structure for a historical museum and World War I monument
