A big thank you to MAlcolm for taking the time to provide us with this info.
Concerning NKP/N&W-Erie/EL interchange, Lima OH was most likely a service
route and for merchandise traffic, was more important than Cleveland.
However around 1972, the Cloverleaf/LE&W was de-emphasized in favor of the
former Wabash, which had the better alignment.

pretty knowledgeable about this stuff about routes. I've edited his reply a
