Yes, Somewhat of one Anyway!  I agree and dont know why NJT hasnt gone after the Sussex Branch other than the Fear it would stir up MORE NIMBYS than even the Cutoff!  As for Service to Washington and Phillipsburg  I think its being Considered but for after the New North River Tunnel/midtown station is Built or at least paid for...
at this point Id say Pburg via Washington over the CRRofNJ Route via Hampton!  asits an Active ROW...

Has NJT experienced a spike in ridership since the increase in gasoline
prices.  If todays generation only knew of the accesibility that was
once out there when you could take the morning commuter train from
Newton to Hoboken.  If the Sussex Branch were still in place, NJT could
be running even more frequent service than what existed in the 60s.
There there was the commuter service to Washington.  Is anyone thinking
of restoring that, possibly extending it to Phillipsburg?  Or would that
be a quicker run if the old CNJ line was restored?
