(erielack) Hickling Station

List
It is my understanding that the plant received coal from a mine (mines?) on the Tioga division. This would have involved a turn way freight from Gang Mills to the mine and return with a hand-off to an Elmira Turn at Gang Mills. There is a story, possibly apocryphal, that Susquehanna Division A. W. Baker during his time at Hornell (c. 1950-1954) took some actions (crew reductions, ???) that resulted in the diversion of this to trucks. These short-haul movements can be profitable if car utilization is sharp, something the railroads don't do to well IMHO.
From the adjacent Ikeway it appears there are still tracks into the facility.

I seem to recall seeing a spur into Hickling Station, but I don't recall seeing coal hoppers. In the '70s I remember seeing a lot of red 18-wheelers hauling coal up Route 15 to Route 17 and then to the power plant. Do you remember/know if/when they stopped getting rail service?
