Just for the record, the MECO Portland Station went into operation on 10-27-58. As of '63 it was burning about 20,000 tons each week and receiving coal in daily deliveries. Interestingly, the first (4-63) unit train (7,000 tons) was an experiment to test the feasibility of the concept. It was a PRR train loaded at mines west of Altoona and handed over to the EL at Martins Creek for delivery at Portland. This is from a newspaper account.
