I was lucky to grow up in Scranton where after the passing of the NYO&W (I was a kid when she passed), we still had two major roads, EL and D&H, as well as what was left of CNJ with a lot of Reading power at their terminus. One of the things that comes to mind when we talk about colors, etc., is when a buddy of mine and I hung out near the D&H Greenridge Yard to catch the through trains. We did this during the summer. One day, a through comes along with typical D&H RS', black and yellow. In the middle of the consist was a brand, spanking new BAR unit that was being delivered via D&H to them up in Maine. We as teenagers stood on the footbridge while she came closer, then passed under us and then continued on her journey via D&H to her new home rails. Funny, but that's something I'll never forget. Her colors were so different from EL and D&H and she looked great. It was a real treat for us, which of course, as 14-year olds, made us investigate BAR. Anyone else had experiences like this one?
