That is true I suppose. I don't have anything against the newer units (although it is getting harder for me to easily tell the difference between a EMD & a GE, and don't even get me started on them fughly gensets). Here in Neenah we still get a pretty good variety of WC/CN stuff. Still blows my mind in a way to see an SD40-2 doing yardwork. ----- Original Message ----- From: Jim Guthrie<mailto:jguthrie_@_pipeline.com> To: EL Mail List<mailto:erielack_@_lists.railfan.net> Sent: Wednesday, April 02, 2008 2:45 PM Subject: Re: (erielack) monotonous >Yeah that is true. Railroading was a lot more interesting when there was more variety. Even though it was before I >was born <mostly> I believe the late 60's to early 70's were some of the most interesting times in railfan life. The steam-era fans always groused that "all diesels look alike" too. I used to hear this at Railroadians meetings, in particular. And some of the young'ns out ther can spend lots of time telling you the differences among those 5 SDP70-whatevers on the point as the stack train goes by, not to metntion the differences in the stack wells. Montonony is merely a state of mind.
