Re: (erielack) monotonous

Yeah that is true. Railroading was a lot more interesting when there was more variety. Even though it was before I was born <mostly> I believe the late 60's to early 70's were some of the most interesting times in railfan life. There was still a lot of first generation stuff around, the new locomotives coming out looked cool (as opposed to the locomotives today which I think by and large just look goofy, kind of like European trains <grin>) and more railroads still around to add flavor to everyday rail watching. I got bored to death with Burlington Northern growing up. BN had a fairly attractive paint scheme, but when all you see day in and day out are green SD40-2's and C30-7's they all start to look alike. The thrills were when you saw some foreign motive power on a run through.

Amen to that Paul. I'm not one to stand track side for yet another
boring SD70MACi or whatever they are. Even with UP and BNSF so
prevalent in Cleveland, it's still boring.

Give me GMY, Cornell Red, Two-tone grey, and even Tuscan any day.
