Re: (erielack) EL Dash 9-44CW



Yuck! The wide stripe on the Train Master doesn't look as bad since that
is a VERY TALL CARBODY. The D9-44CW is roughly the same height, and a
wider stripe would look a little odd and/or overwhelming, IMHO. Look how
nice the standard stripe looked on U36C's (roughly the same
height/length)

Probably so - if you follow the buying patterns of most major railroads
in the years after EL. EL was always "spreading the wealth" in its
motive power purchases, and if history shows us anything, they might
have been disappointed with later EMD efforts (SD50 comes to mind) and
might have also been swayed by GE's lower price point/more efficient
prime movers.

Again...thanks for the insight. Just did not want to spend time on an engine that would have been out of the realm of posibility.
