(erielack) Boonton 1949



Wow, the canal really does show up.  When I became familiar with Boonton
in the late 1950s, much of that area seemed to have been filled in.
This was a relatively short stretch of canal between planes.  Just
beyond the lower left side of the picture the canal's Montville Plane is
located.  My grandmother's brother-in-law had a house in that location
that was razed when 287 was built: Elmer Zieliff.  He was a farmer and
also worked for a hat manufacturer in New York commuting on the
Lackawanna from Montville station in the teens through the 40's.
