After their delivery back in 1962, and 46 continuous years of operation for a single railroad, it looks like the three NYS&W GP-18's are being retired. :(
The1800 was due for it's ninety two day inspection, it moved west to Binghamton on train SU-99 recently. I heard it will be stored serviceable but it sure looks like her operational days on the NYSW are over. GP-18 1802 may have joined her in retirement already. Any word on the fate of 1804?
NYS&W is now leasing CSX GP-40's 2624, was former L&N 4117. CSX 2725 (PC/CR 8065), CSX 2732 (PC/CR)8087). They also leased three Norfolk Southern GP-40's (The ones I've seen operating retain their Conrail Blue paint). They are NS 5273 (PC/CR 8063), NS 5293 (PC/CR 8097) and NS 5294 (PC/CR 8099).
Sure gonna miss those SuzyQ Geeps!
