I could see EL recycling these signals although they looked new when they were installed. I watched them do the job. The only recycled signal that I detected was the semaphore that was just past the wye switch on the Greenwood Lake side indicating what to expect on that branch. I think all trains had to register at Mountain View before proceeding. I'm assuming that the automatic semaphore was some how linked to the train order office at Wayne to determine if there was a train on the branch. The semaphore disappeared quickly after the passenger service to Midvale was terminated. Didn't New Jersey contribute to the upgrading of the Greenwood Lake line with ABS? I thought that was part of the deal in purchasing the few miles of the Boonton Line. Even though these might have been former DL&W signals, they didn't match up with DL&W's aspects with Green being the high signal and Red the low. With both signals always lit, and offset from each other, they looked more like the Erie signal system than Lackawanna's.
