RE: (erielack) Lincoln Park siding, was: Signal question

At Lincoln Park the single track main and the siding were on the station
side of the track. The fence separated the w/bound and e/bound and
siding tracks. When the w'bound main was taken out that side of the
track was abandoned for many years. I think it was not modified until
the 1970s. There used to be a tunnel passageway just west of the
station for passengers to get to the w/bound side. The iron picket
fence remained in place at Lincoln Park for several years, probably into
the 70s.

These days, most NJT trains use the main track, stopping carefully so
the doors line up with the pavement that crosses the siding. One train
- - westbound train 1021 - uses the siding. It meets train 1024 just west
of the station.

The Volunteer Railroaders' Association ran a Santa train from Mountain
View on December 1; staff loaded and unloaded at Lincoln Park, using the
siding. That saved a lot of work since we didn't have to carry anything
across the siding.
