RE: (erielack) Signal question - East Lincoln Park

This is interesting stuff. When the Boonton Line was in its complete
DL&W form it was fun to watch the signals during rush hour. At other
times during the day when a train cleared a block, the signals would go
dark, but during rush hour they would stay on. You could see the
signals change standing by the crossing signal looking west. When the
train would approach Beaver Brook Road west of Lincoln Park, the
crossing signal would go Yellow. As the train moves beyond that point
the signal at the Pompton River would go yellow over green and the
signal at the crossing would go green. I thought all of the wiring
making this work was facinating.

Ed,

That signal was the westbound interlocking signal for East Lincoln Park
- - it retained its 2-head (2-arm? :)/2-lamp configuration through the end
of EL. There were no intermediate signals between East Lincoln Park and
West Lincoln Park, so I suppose technically it was also an approach
signal for West Lincoln Park.

Aren't signal discussions fun? :)
