The next signal on the Boonton Line after Mountain View Crossing was located just east of the Ramapo River Bridge, east of Ryerson Road. It governed the turnout into the siding as well as a block for normal movements. Based on your statement, then, you would never see a green aspect on either the middle or lower signal? The best possible aspect was a yellow bulb?
