Todd, No, she is not in Spooner, WI. This would have been ferreted out long ago. The 6634 was also in the dead line at Woodcrest for a time after its last assignment as the sole power on a WC/CN Dresser (WI) turn out of New Brighton, MN in 2003. The unit suffered a turbo failure, was set out at Withrow, MN and picked up by the eastward daily freight to Stevens Point. From there she went to Woodcrest Shop (IC) prior to its "departure" for Mexico. One list one should probably check out is the "MEXList) on yahoo groups and pose the question there, there may be a number of South-of-the-border types there who may know. My guess is not that it is scrapped, but that it is languishing in some back shop (San Luis Potosi, for example). I have posted the request before on the "Loconotes" list (which has many number-counters) and no firm answer has been obtained. So, the mystery continues. Front Street). According to their website the museum contains an outstanding collection of vintage railroading memorabilia from around the nation (Including our EL locomotive?). It is staffed by volunteers, including retired railroaders who lead guided tours through the old depot's 12 history-packed rooms. > It's open daily Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend from 10 am to 5 pm. Listed telephone numbers are 715-635-2752 or 715-635-3325. > I don't think the Spooner Depot museum has any rolling stock or locomotives on display, but nearby you have the Wisconsin Great Northern Railroad, a historic excursion and dinner train operation that uses approximately 20 miles of former Chicago & North Western track between the northern Wisconsin town of Spooner and Springbrook along the picturesque Namekagon River. > > http://spoonertrainride.com/Home_Page.htm > I wonder if they store equipment there? > > I sure hope one of the SD45-2's CSX and NS still operates get preserved in some way, > > Todd ~ > The Erie Lackawanna Mailing List http://EL-List.railfan.net/ To Unsubscribe: http://Lists.Railfan.net/erielackunsub.html ------------------------------
