List, I've enjoyed everyone's comments here. I'll re-state some of my experiences for new members. I grew up in Warren, Ohio. My grandmother lived right across the street from the Erie depot. This was on the 1'st District of the Mahoning Div. where all the passenger trains ran. I surely remember the Green E - 8's as well as the gray and maroon EL colors. Both were great. There were many passenger, mail, and express trains through Warren at that time. All those different colors those passenger cars were painted! Oh, to go back to those days! I have ridden the Cleveland commuter train many times, as my grandparents lived in Cleveland. Also, went to Cleveland Indians games on the train a few times with Cub Scouts. I'd just love to take the train to a Tribe game now! Those were tarins numbered # 28 + # 29. ALCO RS-3's often powered these trains. In later years the E - 8's took over these duties. I also remember seeing GE's experimental cab units going west on a freight. They eventually ended up on the UP I think. E's, F's, FA's, PA's, Baldwins, you name it - I saw it. I even remember ex-Lackawanna FM's on Cleveland - Youngstown ore trains. When I was a teen, I used to hang around at WN, that is North Warren tower where the Erie RR 2nd District passed through Warren. This is where the RR crossed the PRR's PY&A Secondary. When it was busy, this was a great place to watch trains. This was my #1 spectator sport. Rick Fleischer Cortland, Oh. **************************************Check out AOL's list of 2007's hottest products.
