The seats weren't particularly comfortable either.  Also, peak hour
MU trains were much longer than many stations platforms.  Passengers
in the end cars had a long step to and from the ground.

How did you get to Prudential in Newark from the Boonton Line?  Those
trains didn't go through Broad Street until September 2002.  You had
to take PATH back from Hoboken, changing trains at Journal Square.

I think North Newark station closed before 1973; it WAS a few long
blocks walk to the City Subway, which would have given easier access
to Newark Penn and Prudential.

As noted above, the Boonton Line didn't go through Newark until five
years ago...  I'm sure the conductor made sure to collect the
additional fare to Hoboken, and am surprised you could forget that.
