Re:RE: (erielack) DL&W express cars

The originals, as built in 1944 by Pullman, had Allied Full-Cushion trucks. This was a freight-sized truck meant for high-speed service, as in passenger trains. I've never heard that it was a smooth rider. Eventually, weaknesses or wear developed, and the ICC banned them from interchange; most were replaced by newer designs that looked like Bettendorf sideframes with various and varied systems of snubbers and shock absorbers. However, the Allieds are too fascinating to ignore, so run 'em and enjoy'em.

I haven't been following all of the dialogue on the express cars so I don't know if this was addressed: These cars have very unusual trucks.
