The tracks in Lackawanna and Monroe are county-owned but since what year, I'm not sure. Perhaps someone else has a better finger on this. Regarding reinstating Hawley-Dunmore, for somewhat competitive schedules, they would have to run express to Port Jervis and then perhaps local to Scranton via Hawley and Lake Ariel/Hamlin. A few things on that speculation. While you would pick up passengers from Scranton, Lake Ariel/Hamlin, Honesdale and Hawley, you would miss the Pocono/NWNJ traffic. A friend and I hiked the line through Dunmore to Rock Jct. a few weeks ago and while it could possibly be rehabilitated, it would be extremely expensive. There are washouts and other problems. The Scranton Branch is long gone with homes built on much of the former r-o-w. Even so, that is a much more round about route. The only other possibility would be a connection with D-L in Dumore if that is feasible. Funny but when they go ripping up track as they did at the Cut-Off and between Hawley and Dunmore in the 70s, they never think of the future.
