Their is another route still in place Binghamton to Scranton then via the old DLW/LV/CNJ route from Scranton to Allentown/Bethlehem/Easton and up the old DLW P'burg Branch and into the NJT at Port Morris. A direct ride into NYC would be nice, but see nothing wrong with the PATH and New York Waterways transfer at Hoboken. No need to rebuld the cut off to start the service and once it proves its self then go for the cutoff. Just a thought.

There is no Scranton-New York potential because there are no Scranton-New York tracks, just as with electricity, there is no potential difference if there are no wires. Until the cutoff is restored, there will be no service. As there is no sign of any progress toward getting the cutoff restored, Port Jervis is the only route available for any Southern Tier-New York City area.
To revive an old phrase, "A (anything freight) can travel from Binghamton to New York by rail, but you can't."

"Why not Binghamton-Port Jervis-New York? The tracks are already there. Randy Brown"
You would lose the "massive" Scranton/Pocono/Stroudsburg traffic. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
