Re:Re: (erielack) Fwd: [NSTier] Train from Bingo to NYC

#21 and #22 died years ago. Lots has happened since: Lots of lots have been sold.

Is Route 17 deserted and a pleasure to travel?

Is the current Port Jervis service down to one or two passengers per train? If not, are they all coming from Port Jervis? Or is there a possibility that some are from up river and would love to get on up there?

As I said: it's much easier to explain why it wouldn't work than it is to run a train and see. Yeah -- I know. I've heard them all before: crews, equipment, jurisdiction; study cost and start up costs; insurance -- etc., etc., etc. Box it or bag it and put it on your lawn where it will do some good (although I, personally, am not a great fan of lawns. They do no good and much harm. They waste time, energy, and money, dumping uncounted tons of phosphates into our drinking water)

If anyone really cared, they would start the service on Monday.

They don't, so they won't, saying they can't.

Meanwhile, Oil has retreated to around $90/barrel. Will that be reflected at the pump? HAH!

There's two options: talk, study and politic Scranton and the cut-off to continued death, or run a train north of Port Jervis. Any bets?

Randy Brown, the Granite Grump, waiting for passenger service to return to Nashua and Manchester and, maybe, Concord. Same story: not in my lifetime; probably not ever.
