(erielack) Lake Cities Questions

Okay, you guys have done it! I've always liked passenger equipment, and all
this talk about the new Rapido passenger cars has prompted me to sway from
my strict era definition and do a bit of "it's my railroad and I'll run
what I want".

I plan to add some extra life to the Lake Cities and have it run in 1975 on
the Scranton Division in my basement. So, I have a couple of questions:

1. It sounds as though the Rapido coaches and sleeper are good choices for
that portion of the train. What about the diner? Is there a decent
representation of one of the diners that ran then -- preferably not brass,
as that can be hard to find and expensive? I've searched the archives and
found a consist for the train in 1969 and from the final run, and found some
photos in the Morning Sun books. Looks like most any of the diners running
in 1970 would be appropriate for the final days.

2. The 1970 westbound consist I found lists one of the coaches as
"Scranton", which I believe indicates service only to Scranton? What
happened to that coach at Scranton? Was it removed from the train (the
consist suggests it was on the rear of the train)? Or was it simply closed
and locked and left on the train?

3. The 1970 consist lists one or two baggage cars but no express cars, and
the 1960's consist lists an express car. Were there any express
reefers/boxcars left on the train by 1970?

Thanks in advance for your help!
